This 1955 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible is beautifully restored,luxurious convertible that is ready for some serious summercruising! In 1955, Cadillac introduced only modest styling changesto its Series 62 model such as a refined grille design with widerspaces between the blades and relocating the parking lights to besituated directly below the headlights. Nonetheless, Cadillac'ssales soared to heights never seen before by General Motors' mostluxurious marque. In fact, virtually the entire American automotiveindustry was booming in 1955 which surely contributed to Cadillac'ssuccess. However, Cadillac had positioned itself atop its primarycompetitors such as Lincoln/Continental, who would debut theirflagship Mark II the following year, and Packard, who debuted theirfirst V8 engine in '55 and would essentially be out of business thefollowing year. Cadillac had built a sterling reputation as thepurveyor of the most elegant and finest automobiles with manybelieving that the owner of a Cadillac had achieved perhaps thehighest status in society. In 1955, Cadillac's model lines weredivided into essentially two distinct lines, the daily driversconsisting of the Series 62 and the sportier Eldorado, and the moreprofessionally-inclined Series 60 and Series 75 Fleetwoods aimed atchauffeured-driven buyers. Put another way, the owners of Series62s and Eldorados wanted to enjoy Cadillac's outstanding drivingexperience themselves, whereas the Fleetwoods were likely pilotedby a chauffeur with the owner sitting in back. While the Eldoradowas the most expensive of the consumer-minded Cadillacs, the Series62 Convertible was the second-most expensive model. In total, amere 8,150 Series 62 Convertibles were produced which makes thisparticular example quite a rare piece of 50s Americana. Under thehood on this '55 Cadillac Convertible is a Numbers Matching 331Cubic Inch V8 engine fed by a single 4 barrel carburetor thattogether were said to have produced 250 horsepower when new. The331 V8 is backed by a Hydra-Matic Automatic transmission, ensuringthat just about anybody can take this baby for a spin around theblock. Exhaust exits the 331 Cadillac powerplant via a dual exhaustsetup that generates a wonderful throaty sound out the rear. Loadedwith options, the 1955 Cadillac Sixty-Two exudes luxury! The body isaccented with gorgeous chrome and anodized gold-colored trim, andit has been refinished in beautiful Alpine White paint thatcompletes the exterior look of the car. The interior of this 1955Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe is absolutely stunning! Thefront and rear bench seats have been correctly reupholstered in redleather. The interior is decked out with fantastic options as well!The front bench seat is also power adjustable so that nearlyanybody can feel comfortable behind the wheel. All four powerwindows look and work great, raising and lowering with the simpleflick of a switch.
