1955 Studebaker President CoupeDriver condition 1955 StudebakerPresident 2 Door Hardtop Coupe. Parked for many years in a garagethis car has had a recent revival to roadworthy condition. Verysolid and runs great. Recent work done includes update to 12V (someitems needing completed), Brand new HEI distributor and coil. Newskinny white wall radial tires. New gas tank and electric fuelpump. New brake components including master cylinder, wheelcylinders and all new (Nicop) brake lines. New emergency brakecable, Thrush muffler, Carb rebuild, Thermostat. Mechanical inlineTemp guage hidden in glove box , New fluids and greased all aroundand interior detailing.The good... Runs and drives very well.Brakes are excellent. Transmission shifts as it should (Automatic).Interior is nearly all original (see pics) and in remarkablecondition for age. Not perfect. Carpet is newer. Headliner is goodand not sagging. Steers well (no power steering). Based on previousowner documents in trunk the car appears to have been purchased newin Florida and remained there until the late 1970s and thenpurchased and brought to Indiana. There is no heater or evidence ofever having one. Car is very solid with only a couple smaller floorpatches under driver and passenger floors. Car frame is very solid.New alternator and battery. Turn signals and brake lights work.Thedownsides... Paint is very tired with missing flakes, scratches andold paint over touchups. I buffed and it had some shine left butcould use a good repaint if looking for a show vehicle. Chrome islikewise tired with pitting and scratches. Bumpers need re-chromedand there is a substantial dent in the upper driver rear quarterpannel chrome strip. Dash is sticky from from old plasticdeterioration. Headlights not working due to switch being bad. Gasgauge and oil pressure guage work. Amp guage not wired. Radio notworking. Temp guage mechanical in glove box. Glass is mostly clearbut not perfect. Package tray needs recovered. Windlace arounddoors is deteriorated.If you are looking for a reliable cruiserthis would be a great car. Gets alot of attention. If you arelooking for a show car this car is still a project. Loewy Coupe-possibly one of the most unique looking and stylish cars of the50s. Top of the line car for Studebaker in 1955. Great addition toany collection.
