This building will beour display area where you and other classic car enthusiasts cancomfortably view our current collection of antique and classic carsoffered for sale.David Dunbar Buick began automobile production in 1899 but quicklysought to expand into a larger venue. As a result, in 1908, GeneralMotors emerged offering Buick and two additions, Oldsmobile andCadillac to the public for sale. Although additional models wereadded over the years to include Pontiac and Chevrolet, only two ofthe original offerings produced from GMs inception remain today,Cadillac and Buick.Cadillacs general target area had been the consumer wanting aluxury vehicle and continues to pursue that market area today.Buick on the other hand, positioned itself somewhat lessaggressively. GM sought to posture Buick in an upscaled position,targeting the businessman or middle class family market.As a part of the GM lineup, Buick began with only several models in1908, the most popular of which was the model 10. The model 10accounted for the greatest number of Buicks sold out of 8,820 intotal for that year.Power for the model 10 was produced from a 165ci L head fourcylinder engine producing 22.5 horsepower through a two speedplanetary transmission. By today's standards, the open body model10 was a very basic automobile. It was marketed for $900 and provedto be a resounding success for Buick and General Motors.Post war Buick offerings saw more streamlined body designs andlower roof lines as styling advances began to respond to thedemands of the purchasing public. Several one off concept vehicleswere produced at design engineer Harley Earls direction to generateadditional general feedback. Among those were the 1953 Wildcat I,the 1954 Wildcat II and the 1955 Wildcat III. These concept carsdrew extensive interest and their creation by Mr. Earl was said tohave led to the production of the Buick Skylark in 1953, theLeSabre in 1959 and the Wildcat in 1962.This 1963 Buick LeSabre convertible we are offering for sale in ourcollection holds many modern design advances that can be creditedto its predecessors and of course, the great Mr. Harley Earlhimself.First purchased in Niagara Falls NY, this Buick LeSabre convertibleshows a mere 62,678 pampered miles on its odometer. We have noinformation on the first owner of this stunning LeSabre, but we canconfirm the last two owners spanned over a period of 25 years.Within that time period, a complete cosmetic and mechanicalrestoration had been accomplished. Hardened valve seats wereinstalled in the heads of the 401ci "nail head" engine for properoperation using today's unleaded gasoline fuels. The 265hp 2 bbl.401 was completely rebuilt and purrs like a kitten. Coupled withthe dynaflow transmission, this was the last year this drivetrainwas available in the LeSabre model. The LeSabre offered here todayhas the addition of power steering and power brakes and hasdriver's side reverse threaded wheel lug bolts as well. With onlyone small deteriorated area in the floor having been addressed, therestored body and paint on this beautiful convertible are nearlyflawless, as is the convertible top. The black paint appears to beliquid as you gaze down the length of the body panels disclosingtheir seemingly perfect condition. Both front and rear bumpers hadbeen replated during the restoration process but the grill andstainless trim retain their original shine. The dealer installedWildcat rims are fitted with period correct wide whitewall biasbelted tires which together add to the overall classic appearancethat tends to hold your attention. The trunk area is in very cleancondition containing a matching spare tire and body colored rearwheel well fender skirts.The interior is in meticulous condition as well, showing new redvinyl seat upholstery trimmed in white and newly installed redcarpeting throughout. The dashboard and instrumentation are inoriginal condition showing little to no deterioration due to age.This beautiful LeSabre, obtained from its local senior owner is oneof the finest examples we have seen and we believe it is among themost attractive convertible models Buick has ever produced.
