Summary:
Used 1970 Dodge Charger
Location:
Macedonia, OH
Description:

Spectacular fresh rotisserie restoration in original colors.Numbers on engine and transmission match VIN. Nicely documented, including original legible broadcast sheet. A stunning Charger R/Tthat will stand out anywhere it goes.Is the Dodge Charger thebest-looking muscle car of all time? Hard to argue against it,especially after you see this absolutely gorgeous 1970 DodgeCharger R/T. With a fresh restoration showing only test and tunemiles since it was finished, it?s poised to collect trophies atvery high levels and become the centerpiece of any serious Moparcollection. We love the look of the 1970 models with the chromehalo around the nose and the faux vents on the doors?it stands outin a big way. Add in the beautiful Dark Tan Metallic finish (whichis the car?s original color) and it just glows in the sunlight?ourphotos just don?t do it justice. Panel fit is excellent and itappears to be wearing all its original sheetmetal with no majorrepairs?trunk extensions, rocker seams, and even the quarter panelsall appear to be original-issue. The white stripes along the flanksmake the car look about a mile long and emphasize the dramaticcurves of the quarters, and with sparkling white vinyl top is theperfect contrast, making the car look crisp and clean. New correctglass, restored chrome and stainless trim, and proper lenses alladd to this car?s ultra-crisp presentation. And yes, the headlightssnap open and closed properly. I don?t think we?ve ever seen abetter one.The interior is just as beautifully finished and the tanvinyl upholstery is like the exterior color: pretty rare. With newseat covers and door panels by Legendary, a taut new headliner, andproper carpets, it looks every bit as good as it would have in 1970sitting on the showroom floor. The seats are firm and comfortablethanks to fresh foam underneath, and they were so focused on thedetails that the car comes with a second carpet designed to protectthe driver?s footwell when and if you decide to drive it. All thegauges were fully rebuilt and work correctly, including thetick-tock-tach, and the lighting throughout the interior is now LEDso it?s a bit brighter and crisper than stock. The original MusicMaster AM radio works properly, too, and all the woodgrainedappliques on the dash and center console were replaced so it looksbright and well-rendered. Switches and knobs feel crisp, not worn, and even the shifter clicks precisely through the gate. Someone wasreally sweating the details here. It shows equally well in thetrunk, which features a reproduction mat, correct jack assembly, and an original spare wheel. Oh, and it should go withoutmentioning but all the weather seals are brand new, too. The 440cubic inch Magnum V8 was completely rebuilt to stock specs?thatmeans 375 horsepower on tap thanks to a 4-barrel carburetor. Itstarts easily, idles well, and generally does its business withouta lot of fussing. There?s plenty of oil pressure, and it reallydoes have a fantastic sound. Look on the pan rail and you?ll seethe car?s VIN is crisply stamped and highly legible. Detailing isexceptional, with correct Hemi Orange paint on the block itself, the right wrinkle finish on the air cleaner (which includes the?pie tin? on the lid), and reproduction hoses, wires, and clamps. It?s all extremely well done?even the battery is a correctreproduction unit. The original fender tag is still in place andbreaks it down fully:XS29: Dodge Charger Special, R/T, 2-doorsports hardtopU0G: 440 375 horsepower 1x4 barrel V81970St. Louis,MO, USA136418: Sequence numberE86: 440 cubic inch 4-barrel V8(High-Performance) 375 horsepowerD32: Heavy-duty automatictransmissionFT6: Dark Tan Metallic exterior colorC6T5: Trim -Charger, vinyl bucket seats, TanFT6: Dark Tan Metallic interiordoor framesA02: Build Date: October 02092234: Order numberV1W: Fullvinyl top, WhiteB51: Power brakesC16: Console w/woodgrain panelC55:Bucket seatsJ25: 3-speed wipersM21: Roof drip rail moldingsM25:Wide sill moldingsM31: Belt moldingsR11: Radio solid-state AM (2Watts)V6W: Longitudinal stripes, whiteEND: End of sales codesIt'sworth mentioning that the VIN is also stamped on the radiatorcradle, although taking a photo is problematic with the radiator inplace. Reproduction decals were used throughout, as well as a fewfactory-style markings for that added bit of authenticity. Thechassis is equally well detailed with body-colored floors, arebuilt TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission (which also hasa stamping that matches the VIN), and correct 8.75-inch rear endwith 3.23 gears inside so this Charger is an easy cruiser. Powersteering makes even this big brute easy to handle and all the linesand hoses under the car are brand new. In fact, everything is new,so it sits right and feels buttoned-down on the road. Thereproduction exhaust system sounds great and ends in correctrectangular tips, and there?s a fresh gas tank hanging out back. There?s literally no stone that was left unturned on thisrestoration. Awesome Magnum 500 wheels are always the right choice, with these wearing reproduction FR60-15 Firestone Wide Ovalbias-ply tires. Documentation includes the original ChryslerCorporation broadcast sheet, along with restoration photos andreceipts (in transit). The Dodge Charger is on everyone?s wishlist, and if you?ve been looking for an exceptional example thatstands out, this is a fantastic choice. The unusual colorcombination makes this one unique among all the orange and blackChargers, and in the sun it looks like a million bucks. It alsoincludes an awesome pedigree, which is always reassuring withhigh-end Mopars. An excellent car in every measurable way, this oneis ready to rock.
