The E-Body 1971 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda is considered to be among themost potent and legendary American supercars ever built. There were114 produced in total for 1971: 107 hardtops and sevenconvertibles. This HEMI 'Cuda hardtop is one of just 48 built for1971 with Chrysler's TorqueFlite automatic transmission. Finishedin the factory-original Code FC7 In Violet paint, it is a confirmedmatching-numbers example as inspected and appraised in 2004 bynoted Chrysler expert Galen Govier, including the engine,transmission, body, Fender Tags and Chrysler Production BroadcastSheets. Assembled at Chrysler's Hamtramck, MI, plant near Detroit,the 'Cuda's factory options were many, including the A01 LightGroup, A34 Super Track Pack, A62 Rallye Cluster (includingtachometer, electric clock, 160-mph speedometer, trip odometer, oilpressure gauge and wood-grained instrument cluster applique), C16console, D34 TorqueFlite transmission, E74 426ci 2x4-barrel HEMI V8engine, FC7 High Impact paint, G11 tinted glass, G36 racingmirrors, J55 undercoating, R11 solid-state AM radio, S77 powersteering and U84 F60x15 raised-white-letter tires. In addition tothe aforementioned Govier appraisal report, factory options added$1,839.85 to the 'Cuda's base price, confirmed by a copy of theHEMI 'Cuda's Advance Dealer Shipping Notice issued on March 26,1971, from Chrysler to selling dealer L.P. Steuart Silver SpringInc. of Silver Spring, MD. The dealer's New Car Pre-DeliveryService Inspection form was duly completed on May 1, 1971, and acopy is on file with the 'Cuda, with data that includes thevehicle's Body Type (E), Paint Code (FC7), Serial Number matchingthe last six VIN digits, H6XW Trim Code denoting High Grade VinylBucket Seats White & Black and the HEMI engine number, plusconfirmation of the car's original mechanical equipment, includingthe TorqueFlite automatic transmission, power steering and powerbrakes. A highly detailed rotisserie was completed by professionalsprior to the car's inspection and appraisal by Galen Govier inApril 2004. Three Fender Tags are present to the vehicle, with tworequired to list all factory options, including the all-importantR1B denoting the car's 1971 HEMI production at Hamtramck, the26-inch HEMI-spec radiator, plus the "HEMI Fender" Tag.
