Oh man, the 1970's was a horrible time for automakers in the US.When the Government has a say in how a company builds its cars, youknow you have a problem. Increased safety requirements, smog oranti pollution requirements, fuel consumption, Horsepowerrestrictions etc....Not to mention the growing pains of technologyand how to incorporate that with all this new government controlwas hard. In 1974, the Firebirds curb weight rose dramaticallybecause of the implementation of 5 MPH bumpers as well as decreasedHP ratings. OK, OK OK, wasn't all bad, in fact the Camaro andFirebird still had their looks, and they still had a following frompeople looking for something a little more exciting, I mean JamesRockford drove a 74 Firebird in the very first season of theRockford files. This particular Brown esprit is not perfect but isa excellent driver with a good interior, decent paint and goodmechanicals. It had a re-paint many years ago and has some rustpopping through as seen in the pics. I do have a replacement panelfor the lower door area. The headliner is in need of some help as afew other areas, however this car is ready to be enjoyed or enjoyedwhile working on it. This is a factory A/C with tilt column carthat goes down the road very nicely with good brakes, shifting andidling. This would make a great entry level collector car.
