Bennington, VT
Description:

1977 Toyota Celica Liftback! The built year is Dec 76. VideoLinks:Walk aroundhttps://youtu.be/0qEcpeWnmqgDrivingVideohttps://youtu.be/LHBaigbu33wDrive-byVideohttps://youtu.be/FxuPiM_TcrQCold StartVideohttps://youtu.be/CMhZB4VZ37E A lot of time was put intorestoring this car. A search that took me years for OEM Japaneserare parts was made. These are not replicas, but original partsthat are nearly impossible to find today! Many parts shipped fromJapan. For example, an original rear smiley bumper from a 73Japanese liftback, 73 LB JDM grill, the rare OEM banana taillights, and banana tail lights emblems "GT" & "2000".This carbelonged to an old lady's husband. She originally had the carparked in a garage but later was left outside for years because sheneeded the space and finally decided to sell it back in 2019. I wastold the miles were original 35162 when the car was picked up! Thiswas a lucky find for me. I've done a few Celicas and out of thecars I have worked on this was one I wanted to keep but here we aretoday. (Video links at the bottom scroll down.)I didn't believe themiles were original at 1st and thought the miles had reset. However, as I started putting the car apart there were signs thatit was very possible due to the condition of the car underneath, door panels, floor carpet, the gas/break pedal didn't have muchwear on them. Even though I can't guarantee the miles I took plentyof photos while re-storing the car all the way back from when Ipicked up the car. One important thing to note is the owner stillhad an original pink slip! (pictured, the DMV took it from me whenI registered the car)As mentioned, I have restored a few 1st genCelicas and this has been the cleanest of all. So I believe thiscar to have original miles or very low, if in fact the miles turnedover which I doubt due to the condition of the car. Miles would be140k! Otherwise, this is an original 40k-mile car. I've seen ahandful of Celicas with 140k miles that did not look as clean andsolid as this one at all! Most had rust problems in one place oranother and needed it extensive work! Look at how clean this thingwas from day one! The undercarriage is still as I got the car! AllI did was clean it nothing else was required. There was a Toyotasticker on each door at the door locks that had melted into thedoor over the years. How this car got to where it is today?#1Started with a clean low miles no rust car! The car was entirelygone through as the photos show. I documented this car with photosfrom day 1!Body: Straight body, no rust anywhere. The car was fullycleaned, the interior was fully stripped and cleaned as well, newsound deadening was installed through the interior of the car whichincluded doors, floors, roof, and rear hatch! All this isdocumented with pictures from the moment the car was acquired. Theoriginal paint was white, I had the car repainted white with somegold flake not much just enough to make it nice and see undersunlight (3-stage paint). I don't like my cars to look like theyhave glitter all over. The engine bay was painted black to make theengine show better due to the red engine cover.Suspension: Allsuspension components have been replaced and nicely upgraded totake advantage of today's new technology. Full front T3 Coil Overs,AE86 Rear adjustable spring perches with red KYB adjustabledampening shocks. Spring rates were carefully selected with swiftprogressive racing springs for a comfortable street ride that canalso be a weekend track car! The car rides very comfortably aroundstreets and highways. It's amazing for being over 40 years old andcan be compared to many new cars today.Wheels: One-off customJapanese August Ferose wheels made to fit this specific car to thewidest profile possible with stock wheel fender arches. Wheels werecustom made to the measurements of the car with proxes 888 225/50on rear 14x10.5 4" lip rear -10, 14x8 with 3" lip -16 quatrac185/55 upfront. I had the well-known Barrel Brothers out ofAustralia made these wheels. These are not your normaloff-the-shelf wheels and are unique.Interior: The interior wasfully re-done keeping OEM design and look in mind. All work wasdone by the #1 Celica interior guy in the USA can't name him forhis privacy, but I will provide information to the buyer ifrequired. The front seats, rear, all door, quarter panels, rearhatch panels, and shock tower covers are all wrapped in new blackvinyl to match the seats and original look, The roof liner was alsoredone alone with a dash cap (OEM working map light installed onroof liner). The rare OEM racing "R" shift knob was sourced andinstalled! Those who know Celicas know what I'm talking about. Aworking OEM Radio is also fitted. ( No speakers installed but radioworks 100% and was tested prior to installation, electrical isconnected and can be turned on, just no speakers connected) Aclassic Momo prototipo steering wheel is fitted with a custom OEMcenterpiece with the Celica dragon logo that came off the OEMsteering wheel. A new wireless horn has been installed. The OEMhorn works but due to the Aftermarket steering wheel, it can't beused.Engine: The original 20r motor was replaced with a new LCEengineering 22r race engine. Build to support a supercharger orturbo application and can run on propane or GAS. Makes around 150hpNA as is on pump gas with no forced induction. Should make around200hp with a turbo or supercharger which the engine was built tohandle. Many upgrades in the engine compartment, too many to list.Better ignition, oversized radiator for better cooling, andmore! There are so many parts that went into this car that wouldmake a very long list also many forgotten items that wereinstalled, for example, new hood hinges that are better than stockand so many other details and little parts, OEM Toyota cornerlights front/rear, all OEM Toyota weather stripping windshield, rear glass, quarter glass, doors and so much stuff that I can'tremember now...Key important notes for those that appreciate OEMJDM Toyota parts: The rear bumper is from the original 1973liftbacks that came out in Japan. What's different about thisbumper? It has the red deflectors not found in later liftbacks ornone JDM Celicas! Run a search online and see the photos tocompare. A set of excellent condition JDM Banana tail lights arefitted to the car, most are incomplete by now and nearly impossibleto find or reproduction parts! The ones on the car Are 100%complete with All OEM pieces that include the centerpiece with the"2000 GT" emblems, new OEM side quarter panel dragon emblems, OEM"Celica" and "Liftback" emblems. The original grill from the 73 JDMspec car is also fitted up front. I've tried my best to get as muchof the JDM look with this car and I think it shows. I used as manyOEM parts as I could find see photos! New Toyota OEM Side markersfront, rear, corner lenses, all new Toyota weather stripping fordoors, and windshield (including down to the smallest detail OEMToyota clips for the windshield chrome trim) The front bumper isalso an OEM smiley bumper but none JDM as the JDM 73 liftbackdidn't have the turn signals fitted to the bumper but I liked thisbetter as it makes the front look cleaner in my opinion. You shouldknow there are some imperfections with the paint hard to notice, there is some paint damage at the front fenders due to the wheelsprior to the ones now on the car scrapped the fenders. You can'tsee this unless you are looking for it but I like to mention thisso that is not a surprise to a buyer. This was painted withtouch-up paint to prevent rust. The car also has paint protectionfilm applied to th...for more information please contact theseller.
