2004 Honda Motorcycle

Summary:
Used 2004
Location:
Grand Blanc, MI
Description:

Up for sale is a 2004 Honda Rune NRX1800EB (Chrome Wheels and Rear Bars), #430. If you're reading this, you know that this bike screams INDIVIDUALITY! I purchased this bike (sight unseen) back in 2017 from the second owner (located in Virginia Beach) who owned several of these works of art at one time and was looking to sell his collection. All of his bikes were stored in his home as a center piece and basically driven on a Sunday. The original owner purchased the bike brand new in Florida and not too long after, passed away.I had the bike shipped to me with a reputable transport company and it immediately went to the local Honda Motorcycle dealership to have everything checked out, including compression, valves, etc. I removed the saddle bags and installed the original seat to make things easier for the mechanic. The dealership had not seen many Runes come through (think mine was the second one) and management decided to put pylons all around it to keep everyone at a safe distance! During her service visit, the fuel sending unit had to be replaced as well as the dry rotted tires. The new tires on it (OEM) now have approximately 600 miles on them and are in like new condition. All fluids were flushed for new lubricants and coolant, including oil and filter changed. Service visit total was to the tune of $2,500+! I have driven her approximately 700 miles since acquisition and she has sat in my heated garage to admire and take out occasionally to shows or a Sunday drive. The Texas vanity plate is used for shows and not a real license plate as the bike has never seen the state. It is titled in Michigan and has a clear title.Things added to the bike are as follows:1. Corbin Saddle Bags painted to match bike. Locks were recently replaced with two new keys. Replacement chrome striping/piping on the bags were also purchased and are ready to install.2. Folding Highway footpegs from Rivco. (These are no longer available and extremely hard to find.)3. Brake Away Throttle lock. Not true cruise control, but close.4. Chrome engine covers on both sides with Rune lasered on them. In my opinion, the bike looked unfinished without them and it also has the TEL-TRU (Rochester, NY USA) Thermometer installed where the oil fill cap would go, through the passenger side cover. This is simply an Oil Temp Gauge but sets off the bike nicely.5. Rifle brand Smoked Adjustable windscreen (easy removal and install).6. L.A. Chock by Baxley Motorcycle Stand.7. Aluminum bowed Motorcycle ramps, which assists you getting it onto a trailer without damaging or scratching the underneath. You will also be able to keep both feet planted on either side, eliminating the need for assistance from anyone.8. Lift Plate (These are no longer available and very difficult to find.) This will allow you to lift the bike several feet into the air to perform maintenance and is very stable!9. Hard wired Battery Saver to trickle charge the battery. This will also accommodate a USB to charge an iPhone/Google Phone. There is a white wire you may have seen in the picture with the right saddle bag as my phone was in the saddle bag charging.10. TES Products Motorcycle cover, although the zipper no longer works properly. Cover still suits it's purpose even though it was never stored outdoors.11. Professionally printed thick poster board depicting the specifics of this bike, that can be placed in the black sturdy floor stand (included) made of steel and sufficiently weighted for use at car/motorcycle shows.Another picture will be added showing the additional items that come with the bike.Bike will come as pictured with the painted to match Corbin Saddle bags (easy to remove if you wish), Corbin Rumble seat, original seat, two keys, paperwork and various documentation, receipts, and other various parts. I have receipts every time I filled up at the gas station. I'm not in a desperate situation to sell but think the asking price is reasonable, considering a higher mileage Rune just sold on BaT for $28K and didn't include everything this bike has. I would however, consider reasonable offers. See link here: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2004-honda-rune-34/If you have any questions, please feel free to call. I'm very transparent and honest and value my reputation as I have sold classic cars in the past and become very good friends with all the buyers. The Honda Rune was built in Marysville, Ohio, for only the 2004 and 2005 model year. It is a limited production custom-made motorcycle which only came in three colors: Bloodstone Red, Pearl Chromium Purple, and Black. It was built to make a statement in the motorcycle world, during a time when all of the bike manufacturers were making custom bikes. It is reported that Honda built the Rune at a significant loss and as a marketing tactic. Cost of the bike was approximately $28K for the full chromed version, and it is reported that it cost Honda over $50K to produce each bike. The total number produced is a mysterious number that Honda is extremely secretive about. It is believed that between 2,000 and 3,000 bikes in total were manufactured. At the high number, that would equal approximately $65 million lost towards Honda's marketing campaign. Not cheap advertising by any stretch of the imagination! Honda also figured that they could recoup some money in replacement parts, as the parts for this bike are quite costly. For example, the gas tank would cost around $1,700 to replace and the rear fender would cost around $3,500. The majority of these bikes were sold in the US, with about 1-2 units going to each Honda Motorcycle dealership. A small percentage went to Canada and Europe. The bike standing before you today has a total of 3,539 documented miles. Mileage may be added as I still ride the bike on very minimal occasions. This is a third-owner bike. The first owner was an elderly gentleman that passed away in Jupiter, FL. The second owner was a motorcycle and automobile aficionado located in Virginia Beach, VA, owning a total of eight Runes at one time. When this bike was purchased from him, he had only one left. A few aftermarket items were added to this bike, such as Cruise Control, Highway Foot Pegs, Corbin Saddlebags, and a Corbin Rumble seat (which seats two comfortably) as this bike was originally produced for one rider only. It also came with the original coffee table book (the cover is painted in the same color as the bike), which is a beautiful 19-page history book with many photos and stores away in a beautiful leather sleeve. This collector's book contains two CD's. The first is the 2004 Press information. The second contains the Owner's Manual, Rune television commercial, and entire Service Manual. Honda figured that most Rune owners would prefer working on their own bike.In conclusion, this bike needs nothing! Everything has been done and meticulously maintained. Replacement chrome striping/piping on bags are ready to install. New locks for the saddle bags have already been installed. She's ready to sit in your home as a centerpiece, or drive to your hearts content. I'm very accommodating and will assist with shipping. If needed, I will assist with crating/shipping world-wide for a reasonable fee. I actually drove my last classic car to the buyer from Michigan to a half-way point (Kentucky) as he lived in Atlanta, GA. Not to say I would do that as my time is very constricted, but I will do my best to help in any way I can.Payments accepted will only be by certified bank check, cash (transaction done at my local bank), or wire transfer. I can be reached directly by phone (810-953-XXXX) if you have any other questions or want to see additional photos. I can also be reached on facebook at the "Honda Rune Registry" page. Thanks for looking!
