A four-year effort by Harley-Davidson called ProjectRushmore has culminated in several features and improvements to the2014 touring models, including the Street Glide Special here.Though it does not get the much-ballyhooed partial liquid-coolingsystem that was introduced exclusively on the Ultra Limited, CVOLimited, and Tri-Glide Ultra models for 2014, the Street Glide doesget the improved "High Output" 103-cubic-inch (1,690cc) air-cooledV-twin with new cams and high-flow airbox.Another major feature of the Special model, in addition to its newgauges, is a more sophisticated sound and infotainment system thatcarries a 6.5-inch color screen as opposed to the standard model's4.3-inch screen. This Harmon Kardon system integrates audio,communications, and navigation, and it can be controlled by audioprompts when paired with a wired headset. While there's too much totell here, note that the system works well and provides exceptionalsound. Fairing-mounted electronic speedometer with odometer;time-of-day clock on CD player/stereo; dual trip meter; low fuelindicator light and mileage countdown feature; low oil pressureindicator light; engine diagnostics readout; LED indicator lights;6-speed indicator light Tachometer with fuel, voltage, oil pressureand ambient air temperature gauges.The exterior is finished in a beautiful Charcoal Pearl with thinblack decals. There are a few small chips in the paint, butoverall, it's in excellent condition. If you want the ride to betruly epic, you must sweat bullets to make the little things workexactly right.
