It was intentionally designed to settle thequestion whether Rolls-Royce still owned the luxury market and isan ultra-luxury exotic large sedan built in England. It transportsup to 5 passengers in the lap of luxury. It featured a handcraftedinterior, suicide-style rear doors, and an aluminum spaceframechassis. It is powered by a 453 hp 6.75-litre V12 engine mated to asix-speed automatic transmission and is rear-wheel drive. Safetyfeatures include front and side airbags, traction control, andstability control. Drawing inspiration from the companys heritage,the Rolls Royce Phantom was unveiled in 2003 to great fanfare andacclaim and was the first model produced under BMWs ownership. Thedesign and the engineering team spent four years to develop the newPhantom with the result a vehicle that was obviously inspired bythe legendary originals, retaining the traditional design cues, butbuilt on a unique platform with a body made mostly of aluminum.
