This 1951 Ford Custom Deluxe Convertible was purchased by the seller as a rolling shell, and he says the car underwent a body-off restoration and has seen only a handful of miles since it was completed. It was restored to stock specs, including the 239-cubic-inch flathead V8 engine. The restoration included many new parts, a refurbished interior, a new convertible top, and new paintwork. There are still a few needs for the car, but the restoration appears fresh and clean. FEATURES The 239-cu.in. L-head V8 was rebuilt. When new, it was rated at 100 horsepower.During the rebuild, the engine received a new carburetor, starter, and generator.The exhaust system was also replaced.A column-shift three-speed manual transmission backs the V8.The transmission features an electrically activated overdrive unit, but it does not work.Reportedly, a broken wire on the governor is the reason the overdrive is not connected.During the restoration, new seals in the transmission and rear axle were installed.The body, paintwork, and exterior trim were restored to stock specs, says the seller.Prior to painting the car Sportsman Green, bodywork included dent and rust repair.The convertible top was restored with a new top, motor, pump, and cylinders.The glass and seals were renewed, too, but the windshield wipers are not operational.Black vinyl upholstery, with dark green accents, dresses the restored interior.There is little apparent wear in the seat covers, carpet, and door panels.The steering wheel shows mild wear and mild cracking.The stock AM radio was refurbished and upgraded with FM capability.Even the clock was restored and reportedly operates well.The chassis, suspension, and brakes were restored and are said to be in good condition.A new parking brake cable was installed but needs adjustment to work properly.The U-joints and wheel bearings were replaced during the restoration.The car drives on whitewall tires that are said to be seven years old.They’re mounted on stock steel wheels painted body color. COMES WITH Spray-can touch-up paint and a complete set of shop manuals are included. NEEDS The overdrive for the transmission is not connected.The windshield wiper cable needs to be connected to the wiper switch.The parking brake cable needs adjustment.The original jack needs repair.
