This is a beautiful example of the firstyear that the Belvedere stood on its own in the Plymouth lineup.Power is supplied from a 218 inch inline 6 cylinder that istransferred through a 3 speed overdrive manual transmission. Thewagon has been restored and was repainted in the original SantaRose Coral with the original basket weave interior. This stunningSuburban was part of a collection in the Northwest and recentlycame to the Midwest. It has been very well cared for and it showsextremely well. The Belvedere replaced the Cranbrook as the top-line offering for1954. Now, a separate model instead of just a two-door hardtop, itwas also available as a convertible, two-door station wagon, andfour-door sedan. The two-door hardtop version was now called the"Sport Coupe". The 1954 Belvederes featured full-length rocker sillmoldings. Minor styling updates adorned the carry-over body design.For the first time, small chrome tailfins appeared on the rearfenders. An entry-level nameplate was introduced, called thePlymouth Plaza sharing the same design and technology at a lowerprice. In March 1954, Plymouth finally offered a fully automatictransmission, the Chrysler PowerFlite two-speed. Also new was alarger standard engine: a 230.2 cu in (3.8 L) I6 that was also usedby the Dodge Division. Power was now rated at 110 hp (82 kW).Belvedere production totaled 32,492 for the year.
