Named after the affluentsuburb in NJ just west of the Big Apple which was already home tomansions, industry magnates and corporate power brokers, this carreflected that chutzpah...To the nines. For consignment, a rolling work of automotive art, truly a custom"skate", a wild ride that puts out enough eye candy your eyes willturn Type 2 diabetic, we give you this totally custom, well workedlead sled in the form of a 1955 Mercury Montclair. ExteriorFrom the custom tube grille to the Packard taillights andcontinental rear bumper, this consignment oozes cool, and is in thedictionary as an example picture under the word cruiser. Shades ofthe Batmobile for the custom headlights which are visored and agreat beginning to the wonderful Buick porthole styled frontquarter. Chromed rods are halved by a large shiny bumper, and belowmore candy for the chin panel. The hood has been shaved of anybadging and has been totally louvered in lieu of a hood scoop.Looking down either side its 50's solid gold design with a chromeddiving swoop trim spear, the trio of oval Buick porthole vents justaft of the wheel well. On the back a body bump out replaces whatwas chrome trimmings and a custom integrated fender skirtseamlessly melts into the rear bumper. The bottom of the rockersare framed with lake pipes, old skool kewl fer sur. All these bigsteel panels are bathed in custom PPG raspberry or what this writerwould lovingly refer to from now on as Flamingo! The top has beenchopped and refitted neatly around the wrap-around windshield andit is covered perfectly with Mercedes Benz Natural, (beige),canvas. All trimmings for the glass are in the Flamingo save forthe rear glass which came off of a 48 Chevy has weatherstripping.Door handles are shaved, and have teardrop mirrors, and dummyspotlights attached. Looking to the back of course the Continentalrear bumper which sports a custom airbrushed artwork of "Cupid'sChariot" which is certainly aptly named because I'm already inlove! Frenched taillights are like a 55 Chevy on steroids whichhave been willingly donated from a Packard. Glistening on all 4corners are chromed wire wheels with flame motif knockoff hubs.These are wrapped by wide whites and are stunningly beautiful notunlike the rest of the above exterior! InteriorIn keeping with the custom theme we pop the shaved doors and see avertical panel of tuck and roll canvas textured Raspberrybroadcloth with a beige panel above and blood red carpeting below.Inside the front buckets use the same with the Raspberry canvastextured tuck and roll inserts, and beige leather bolsters whichare smooth as silk. These buckets and a matching rear dual bucketbench-like seat with console all float in a sea of blood redcarpeting. The car is halved inside by a V shaped leather coveredcenter console. As it races up to the dash which is also in beigeleather, and it is total custom with square and rectangular DakotaDigital gauges. A wood rimmed rally steering wheel fronts thisbeauty and is a tilting column. Other dash features are powerwindows, a digital AM/FM/CD player and Vintage Air. We need to givea shout out to the trunk which has also been finished off in thebroadcloth tuck and roll and beige leather and has thick blood redcarpeting. Hey and it's a trunk! DrivetrainWhen you turn the key to this baby the engine goes bling, blingbling! Actually, it idles like a dream but it looks like it wouldmake this sound! It's a 460ci V8 out of a '78 Merc, with a 4-barrelEdelbrock 750cfm carb, atop a new intake manifold. On back is a C63-speed automatic tranny and a 3.73 rear axle. UndercarriageIt's too low to go top on our lift however we can tell you thatthis car is loaded with colorful neon accenting lighting inside andout, has independent front suspension, and rear leaf springsuspension with rear adjustable air shocks, and rack and pinionsteering. Peeking under it is as good as the top side. Drive-AbilityThis is one of those cars I cannot get enough of, and I clamored totest drive this car. It drives like an air ride dream, has greatpickup, solid steering and even good handling. It is a head turningcruiser that does this in spades effortlessly. When my partner and I tested this car you could say we had two inthe pink? Anyway, it's a work of rolling art, well done, eye candy,custom everything and it shows every inch of passion taken and allattention to detail creating a wild ride. See it to believe it, andyou'd best hurry these lead sleds fly off the shelves.
