The Dodge Polara is an automobileintroduced in the United States for the 1960 model year as Dodge'stop-of-the-line full-size car available as a sedan, hardtop coupe,hardtop sedan, and convertible. The sedan was approximately $300more than the 330 Series and approximately $150 more than the 440Series. It added back-up lights, additional exterior moldings, apower top on the convertible, and custom interior and upholsterytrim. In its various forms, the Polara name was used by Dodge until1973, when its position in Dodge's line-up was replaced by theMonaco. The name Polara is a reference to the Polaris star, in amarketing attempt to appeal to the excitement surrounding the SpaceRace during the early 1960s. As you walk around the vehicle, youwill notice nice details like the bold brightwork of the front endand down the side, the dual exhaust, and the whitewall 205/75r14tires. This car exudes a real presence! Take a seat inside and youare greeted by a seriously sporty interior via the red vinyl seatsthat are accented by silver racing stripes. A two-spoke steeringwheel sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer and factory auxiliarygauges that include a fuel gauge, water temperature and batterycharge. The five-digit odometer shows 75k miles, although the truemileage is unknown. These are gaining ground in today's collectorcar market & the pure joy of driving top-down in a 60's classicwill never get tiring!
