Zoom Classic Cars is proud to present this beautiful custom 1967Mercury Cougar XR7 street rod. The vehicle is powered by anon-original 351 Cleveland engine that was rebuilt at 40,000 miles,and only has 10,000 miles since the rebuild. As a result of thestronger and heavier engine, it was extended with frame railswelded in for support to be strong enough due to the extra weightand torque. Older cars don't have crumple support so this providesadditional reinforcement. The vehicle was originally a manualtransmission but that was also swapped out to an automatic. Theodometer reads just over 50,000 miles. The current owner purchasedthe vehicle in 2018. The previous owner did extensive work to thevehicle that includes the rebuilt 351 Cleveland engine,transmission changed from manual to automatic, installed a Demoncarburetor, and Wilwood disc brakes. In addition old floor panswere cut out and replaced, the interior carpeting, upholstery andlining all were all redone, and the vehicle was repainted to matchoriginal paint with faint metal flake added for luster. The trunkis customized and extremely nice, containing a marine batterybehind the wall that powers the subwoofers for the stereo thatplays CDs and features bluetooth. The vehicle features BilletSpecialties chrome wheels. A new battery was installed in December,2022. Early in 2022 the electric headlight eyelid door actuatorswere installed replacing the original vacuum actuators, an oilchange was completed, oil gaskets were replaced, the gas float todisplay accurate fuel reading was replaced, the turn signal columnswitch was replaced, new LED dash display gauge lights wereinstalled, and the ignition switch was replaced. In June of 2023 anew alternator was installed, the header gaskets were replaced, newplugs and wires installed, and the timing and carburetor wereadjusted. Additionally at this time the front wheel bearings weretorn down, re-packed and set, the primary stabilizer bushings atthe power steering unit were replaced, the hood, hood latch, and DShinge were aligned, a portion of the grill was repaired andsecured, along with some other small odds and ends tightened. Thevehicle has a clear title and is driven regularly on short drives.It features dual exhaust, custom steering wheel and a rust freebody. Though the transmission was switched out from a manual to anautomatic the clutch pedal was not removed, instead, it is pulledup against the floorboard wall. When you manually close the hood,the corner sticks up about a 1/2". You can manually push it downand it is close to where it needs to be. A can of touch up paintfor little imperfections (such as you see in the driver's sidecorner closest to the windshield) will be included with the sale.As you open the hood to click on and off the switch for thesubwoofer, you may be continually retouching up that corner. Thenaval battery for the subwoofer is in the trunk installed in a wallthat is removable. You must turn off the switch under the enginehood after driving or it will drain the main car battery. While notperfect, one could rate this car an 8/10, and with the larger, morepowerful engine, recent maintenance, and modern upgrades the valueis increased. Overall this is a beautiful street rod that has beenwell cared for, updated and maintained. This Cougar starts rightup, runs and drives as it should, looking awesome while cruisingthe streets putting a tremendous smile on your face. Call Tom formore information at 269-317-XXXX.
