Beautiful 1968 Pontiac GTO 455 Big Block 455 Big BlockPontiac redesigned its GTO for 1968, with more curvaceous, semi-fastback styling. The previous 115 inch wheelbase was shortened to 112 inches for all two-door models. Overall length was reduced 5.9 inches and height dropped half an inch , but overall weight was up about 75 pounds . Pontiac abandoned the familiar vertically stacked headlights in favor of a horizontal layout, but made hidden headlights available at extra cost. The concealed headlights were a popular option. The signature hood scoop was replaced by dual scoops on either side of a prominent hood bulge extending rearward from the protruding nose. There are over 120 pictures of this car in the eBay listing, including detailed exterior, interior, engine, trunk and undercarriage. Please let all the pictures load (there are over 120) to see the beautiful condition of the Classic Pontiac muscle car. According to the current owner, this car started life as a genuine GTO with a 400 CI V-8 engine and has 42,500 original miles. The 400 has been removed and has been replaced with a 70s Pontiac 455 (YU code) big block V-8, completely rebuilt with some mild performance upgrades. The transmission is a 400 turbo automatic with his/her shifter, it has a 10 bolt rear and posi-traction, power steering, front disc brakes, factory air conditioning and an aftermarket stereo. The car was repainted about 15 years ago and looks great. The interior appears to be mostly original and the undercarriage is extremely solid, clean and dry with no issues. Rounding out the package are some great looking 15 Pontiac Rally II wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. Included in the sale will be the original 400 engine with 41,000 miles, the PHS documents, Pontiac floor mats, an extra rear window, and trim, all the A/C components, the original front drum brakes and some receipts for work performed over the years. Please remember that this car is 44 years old and not perfect. The front bumper has some spider cracks in the paint (as shown). The A/C and heat are inoperable.
