Description:

Beautiful 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme loaded with options.Fantastic color combination, great-running 350 with automatictransmission. Very well documented. A very high quality A-Body Oldsready to enjoy right away! There's something about the Oldsmobilesthat just feels different. This attractive 1972 Olds Cutlasssomehow seems more solid, better assembled, and just plain betterthan a comparable Chevy or Pontiac. And thanks to someone spendinga whole lot of money on this car, it's easily the best we've seen. The sparkling Saddle Bronze paint almost has an iridescent look andhugs the muscular Cutlass bodywork extremely well. Add in the whitevinyl top (with no signs of issues underneath) and the pinstripesthat highlight the fender line, and you get a car that looks sportyyet upscale at the same time. You can see at a glance just howstraight the bodywork really is and if you rap your knuckles on anypanel, it rings true in a way that only original, undamagedsheetmetal really can. Gaps are excellent throughout, suggestingthat the Oldsmobiles got a little extra attention on the assemblyline, and all the chrome is either excellent original stuff orproperly refinished to stock specs. You'll note the emblems arecrisp, the fine mesh grille is undamaged, and the satin blackaccents that are unique to the '72 models are properly done. Thisis a really nice car.Inside you get a matching Saddle Tan interiorthat appears to be entirely original and in fantastic condition. The bench seats are still firm and comfortable, the door panelsdon't even show a divot where the driver's elbow might have rested, and the dash pad isn't cracked or sun damaged. Nice! The carpetshave probably been replaced simply because they look too fresh tobe 50 years old, but the whole interior has a high-quality look andfeel that's very appealing. The 4-spoke steering wheel helps withthe Cutlass's sporty demeanor and this car is equipped with a fullset of gauges, including a working Tic-Toc-Tac. Other optionsinclude power windows, factory A/C, a tilt steering column, and anAM/FM radio, along with all the standard features that madeOldsmobiles special. The headliner overhead is surely original, too, and it shows no discoloration or split seams, and thefactory-installed shoulder belts are handing right where theyshould. There's also a good-sized trunk with original mats and amatching full-sized wheel and tire assembly. Oldsmobile's 350 cubicinch 'Rocket' V8 shared nothing with its corporate cousins of thesame displacement, and has its own personality. There's a distinctsound to the Olds powerplant that we find appealing. There's also agood hit of low-end torque and thanks to a few sensible upgradeslike a modern Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust, it'ssurely a bit more potent than when it was new. It starts quicklyand easily, idles properly, and pulls the sporty coupe aroundwithout much effort at all. There are a few chrome dress-up itemsunder the hood to go with the factory gold engine enamel, andanything that was removed or replaced is included with the car, including the original air cleaner assembly. Proper maintenancemeans that it drives like it should, stays cool on hot days, andnever gets fussy?it's an Oldsmobile, after all. The TH350 3-speedautomatic shifts crisply but not harshly and with 2.73 gears outback, it's a great highway cruiser (in fact, this car was driven toour shop from New York without incident). The suspension isobviously more luxury than sport, but it's competent andcomfortable for cruising and the power front disc brakes are plentystrong. New equipment includes a fresh dual exhaust system, recentgas tank, and little stuff like shocks and brake components, soit's 100% ready to enjoy. Color-matched SSII wheels always lookawesome on these cars, with these wrapped in 225/70/14 BFGoodrichT/A radials all around.Documentation is extensive, including theoriginal window sticker, a copy of the build sheet, and all thefactory owner's manuals mounted in a display. It also includesservice, body, and assembly manuals, plus a good cache of spareparts. This is easily the nicest Olds Cutlass we've ever featuredand probably the best A-Body of any kind that has been in ourshowroom. It's just beautifully maintained and the combination ofluxury options and sporty driving manners makes the Cutlass just asappealing today as it was in 1972. If you're looking for ahigh-quality car that doesn't break the bank, something that standsout at shows (this car is a multiple award winner), and that youcan enjoy driving on a regular basis, look no further?your car ishere.
