1996 Lincoln Town Car Because I work out of state for the majority of the year I have decided to sell my poor Lincoln as I am only home for around a month or so at a time. The last thing I did was have the original wheels re-powder coated and new Cooper tires installed . I have recently completed a lot of work and it is running great except for some rust issues over the doors I was addressing but have not completed. You will need to complete the body work and some odds and ends here and there. The only real issue I have ever had was this car likes to eat IAC motors for some reason. It may be an problem with the wiring harness but have never got so far to figure it out. Another nuisance is the A/C only works on Max Cold as the blend door motor was stuck on heat so I unplugged it and “persuaded” it to remain on cold. This can be fixed if you decide to dissect the dash board as the engineers started with the actuator and then built the car around it. Overall I have always strived to keep it OE with the only exception being the test pipes temporary installed to diagnose an exhaust back pressure issue. As I do work out of state, I will arrange to meet the buyer at my home for the transaction. I will be on vacation between 11/1 to 12/8 Originally purchased in November of 2001 with 40,000 miles, I was the second owner. Currently has 251722 miles Oil changes performed every 3000 miles, synthetic oil used.Transmission fluid changed every 20,000 miles.Vehicle was painted 2 times since purchase and is due to be painted again.Vehicle stored under car cover with dehumidifier inside while I am out of town.The majority of recent work has been listed below along with some items as far back as 2019Air suspension has been maintained over the years. I may have an extra pump or I may have installed it at some point. As I am out of the country I can not say for sure until I get back. Maintenance performed recently: 251648 Water pump Lower hose rear main seal transmission front pump and output seals Starter positive and negative OE battery cables Entire A/C system that flows refrigerant, it is now freezing cold but stuck on MAX. U-Joints, painted drive shaft Painted internal frame rails and engine blue, why not, it was all apart Exhaust Gaskets under vehicle I did something with the wiper transmission and replaced washer hoses Another IAC Motor New tires Wheels re-coated 251581 Upper Intake Bower Booster Upper Hose Thermostat and housing Vacuum Hoses Cleaned injectors off vehicle with pulser 251478 Cleaned plenum off vehicle EGR Valve TPS Plugs Motor craft Battery 245109 Wiper Motor 244809 Alternator Belt Tensioner 244142 Fuel Filter Air Temp Sensor PCV 235153 Evaporator 234414 New KYB Monomax Shocks 233309 Front Hub Assemblies Rear/Left axle Axle bearings and seals Not so long ago Control Arm bushings Upper and lower ball joints Front and rear brakes Air springs KNOWN ISSUES Rust; only noticed above doors. I originally was going to cut the rust out and weld in 1/16” steel bent at 80 degree angle. This would stop the rust and it would likely never return. There is also weather striping over where I started the repair so if completed it would not be noticeable. I have cut the affected area out over the passenger side and applied Eastwood Rust Encapsulator to the metal. Always had issues with the IAC motor. After replacing it the car runs perfect but has the issue again in a year. Blend door actuator is stuck on cold because I never felt like changing it. I did buy a new one that will be included. The window regulators are annoying, I have replaced the driver side probably 4 times in 20 years. The passenger front and rear were “repaired” by drilling a hole in the regulator and bolting it in place so the window would not slide down. After returning from work this year, I noted a leak in the A/C. I recharged the system and it is functioning normally but a leak is present
