This 2003 Maserati Coupe was from the early part of the brand'sreturn to the U.S. market more than 20 years ago. This sleek grandtourer recalled classic Maserati models from the Sixties andSeventies, while exceeding their performance and delivering modernluxury. This car is equipped with the six-speed Cambiocorsatransmission, a paddle-shift robotized manual transmission with anautomatic mode. The seller says this Maserati was his "bucket list"car. "I saw it in Hemmings Motor News, enjoyed it for a year, andnow it's time to pare down my fleet."Maserati built its simplynamed Coupe model from 2001-'07. This model used a refreshedversion of the design from its predecessor, the 3200 GT, which wasnot sold in the U.S. The Coupe's design had originated fromGiorgetto Giugiaro, who had created several classic Maseratidesigns. The Coupe and its open Spyder companion modelre-introduced Maserati to the U.S. market after a 12-year absence.The 4.2-liter V8 was jointly developed by Ferrari and Maserati and,in different forms, was also used in Ferrari models. (Maserati hadcome under Ferrari management, with both iconic sports car brandsunder the Fiat corporate umbrella at the time.) One major automedia outlet declared about the Maserati Coupe, "This is a true GTcar with a beguiling Italian accent." The Coupe was successful,with more than 9,000 made (along with about 4,300 Spyders).
