The Pontiac G8 is a full-size sedan which was produced by Holden inAustralia for export to the United States, where it was sold byPontiac. The G8, a rebadged Holden Commodore, was released in early2008 for the 2008 model year in the United States, and in 2008 forthe 2009 model year in Canada. Production stopped in mid-2009,following the GM decision to suspend the Pontiac brand. Whileavailable, the G8 took the place in the Pontiac lineup of both thePontiac Bonneville, which ceased production after the 2005 modelyear, and the Pontiac Grand Prix, which ceased production after the2008 model year. Under the hood of the GXP Corvette-derived, 415-hp 6.2-liter LS3V-8 is paired with either a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed auto. TheGXP has an upgraded, Nurburging-tuned FE3 suspension package, aswell as larger, ventilated Brembo disc brakes. It also features aunique front bumper cover and a rear (non-functional) diffuser todifferentiate it from the standard Sedan and GT models.
